![]() (a lot of my TtV shots use blends to create depth for example) and have done for some years now and this is the first time I've encountered this corruption.Īll I need to know is where to find the resource on a clean install to overwrite these corrupted ones. ![]() My expectations are for this installation (at work) to behave the same as my home installation and work the same way as previous installations have over the last 5 or so years that I've been using gimp?! The one above has orange in the middle but that's maybe not so obvious. look again at the third one down FG to BG (HSV Counterclockwise) and ask yourself where the blue and the pink and purple come into GREEN and WHITE? Typically you use the blend tool on a layer and you use black to white to blend the top layer to the bottom layer or you can use a transparent layer to darken (say the sky) while keeping the land lighter.įG to BG should only blend between TWO colours. When you are blending between green and white, you are getting the intermediate colors so to speak. Looks fine to me? What were your expectations? If i can avoid uninstalling I'd prefer it as I have quite a few plugins that I'd rather not lose. I have tried re-installing gimp over the top of this installation but it didn't help. Hard to help without much detail.Īs I said, some of the default gradients (as installed with GIMP) have become corrupt and now instead of blending from foreground to background - in this case green to white - they add one or more colours to the blend. Please provide a screenshot of what you are observing. Sorry, you have already given me that information haven't you! The files i need to copy from another machine are in C:\Program Files\GIMP 2\share\gimp\2.0\gradients aren't they!Įxcept that hasn't worked so the solution must lie elsewhere.Īnybody know what I need to do to reset the gradients to fresh install status? i've tried reinstalling gimp over the top but no change. If I could copy them from another installation I'm pretty sure that would fix it? Where do those native/default gradient files reside in a normal install? Have you checked that your preferences are pointing to the default gradient folder?Ĭ:\Program Files\GIMP 2\share\gimp\2.0\gradients Originally posted at 12:58AM, 23 April 2013 PDT Is there a way of overwriting the gradients from a clean version on another machine? or any other way to clean the files up and revert to defaults? The reset tool button does nothing, as soon as you choose any foreground colour other than black it goes back to the weird corrupt version. Is there a way to create a brightness gradient? i.e.Not sure how but the default gradients (foreground to background etc) on my copy of GIMP 2.8 at work (win XP) have got corrupted and now blend several other colours to create a weird sunset effect. I've tried using a foreground colour that has a similar colour tone to the rest of the image (rather than just black or dark grey), but this doesn't improve the image much. I've tried this in various ways but unfortunately the part of the image where the foreground colour is applied does not look good - the colours, contrast, and detail become washed out by the foreground colour. They typically use the gradient tool to fade from a dark foreground colour to a transparency. I've seen various blog posts and YouTube videos that use the gradient tool to do this. I'm trying to adjust the image to give a more even exposure across the image. The original image (link below) is the front of a furniture cabinet where the room was lit from a window on the left of the cabinet - the image therefore has higher exposure on the left, and is darker on the right. Hi everyone, I'm trying to adjust the brightness across an image in Gimp (2.10) and I'd really appreciate your help.
